BCIT GIS Students Gain Invaluable Experience Through i-Open Technologies’ XLRator Program for Progressive Solutions
Fraser Valley’s tech hub XLRator, will collaborate with British Columbia Institute of Technology’s (BCIT) GIS Program providing students with industry knowledge, hands-on learning and exposure to the Spatially Enabled AI (SEA) Cluster Initiative. The partnership will impact the region’s skills gap by building and delivering experts on GIS/geospatial, machine learning and image recognition technologies.
With growing demand for a high-tech workforce, the alliance provides students with the opportunity to build progressive solutions that will address global challenges like climate change. Training will also be provided for leading-edge GIS tools and technologies. “Providing GIS students with real-life experience is a win-win situation for all of us and more importantly the BC economy,” says Karl Kliparchuk, GIS Program Head & Instructor at BCIT.
About XLRator: XLRator is a social enterprise focused on building a thriving tech ecosystem in the Eastern Fraser Valley. XLRator provides a pathway to information and resources as well as a single point of contact for members of the high-tech industry.
